Marty Seymour
Appointed by the GovernmentMarty Seymour was raised on a mixed farm in southeast Saskatchewan. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Animal Science in 1998, he has had an eclectic career in business development and marketing in many disciplines associated with Canadian agriculture. One of the most interesting assignments in Marty’s career was his time as CEO of Canadian Western Agribition. Under his leadership, he helped position Saskatchewan as an agriculture centre excellence through various trade missions to southeast Asia, Australia, and the US. Most notably was the construction of the International Trade Centre building in Regina in 2016 securing Agribition as an international marketplace for Canadian agriculture and agri-food. Marty was also instrumental in facilitating the public trust initiative in Canadian Agriculture through his leadership of the country’s largest social media brand, ‘Ag More Than Ever’, and he leaves a legacy of Canada’s annual ‘Agriculture Day’ celebration as part of his time working for the country’s largest agriculture lender,, Farm Credit Canada. Marty has sat on many boards and committees with some of his most memorable being the Canadian Cattle Association’s Communications Advisory Committee, Sakimay First Nations Economic Development Corporation, Innovation Saskatchewan and the University of Saskatchewan’s Board of Governors. Marty is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Carbon RX, an organization dedicated to the reduction and capturing of greenhouse gases with a focus on agriculture, forestry, and energy. In recognition of Marty’s contribution to Canadian agriculture he was recently awarded Canadian Western Agribition’s Top 50 in Canadian Agriculture.
